Two Agras T50s help Winchelsea croppers work wet paddocks

The challenge

Wet paddocks restrict ground-rig access, which makes it harder to time essential applications. Small or awkward areas also mean slow work moving machinery through gates and turning in tight spaces.

Why they chose the system

The Leighs bought two DJI Agras T50 drones from DRONES180 to add aerial application to their existing equipment.

Aircraft and equipment

DJI Agras T50 × 2, supplied by DRONES180.

What happened

They now use the drones to apply fertiliser, fungicides, slug baits and herbicides in areas their ground equipment could not reach when conditions were wet.

Smaller areas are simpler to treat without moving machinery through gates and making repeated turns.

What the customers have noticed

When applying fungicides, they have noticed better spray penetration and plant coverage in denser crop canopies, which they put down to the airflow under the drone.

They report more accurate fertiliser application rates than with their traditional ground rigs.

Evidence and limitations. These are the customers' own observations. They have not been independently measured, and results depend on product, rate, conditions and set-up.
